Shopping Channel JTV Helps to Push Sales Up 13 percent

Shopping channel Jewelry Television (JTV) says it recorded strong sales for Black Friday weekend and Cyber Monday as 50,000 additional shoppers helped to push sales up 13 percent year on year, according to the retailer. The network’s ecommerce website, JTV.com experienced a sales increase of 20 percent, however, figures were not provided for either division.

The company’s promotions featured items such as colored diamonds, pearls, tanzanite, watches, and special fashion trends. The top selling item was a Mararabá amethyst ring from the Limited Edition 2011 Holiday Collection, according to the group.

JTV also started its promotions early in the game by launching a marketing campaign touting “Every Friday is Black Friday at JTV” four weeks prior to the Thanksgiving weekend. JTV.com offered four consecutive Cyber Monday promotions as well with free shipping and discount pricing on select items.

Randy Sadler, JTV's vice president of marketing, said, “We’re pleased to report respectable numbers at a time when retailers are still struggling with current economic challenges. We attribute the 13 percent increase in jewelry sales to consumers realizing that JTV provides great value. Our international sourcing operations and global buying power is allowing JTV to remain competitive.”

Craig Shields, JTV’s vice president of e-commerce, said, “This year we strategically aligned all of our shopping channels--broadcast, web, and mobile to cross promote each other and drive traffic between all three. Our customers responded well. Social media also played a big role in our Black Friday week and Cyber Monday events.”
