India, Canada Sign Memorandum to Boost Diamond Trade

Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) and the Diamond Bourse of Canada (DBC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to boost bilateral trade and investment in the diamond sector.

ICCC annual awardsAs per the agreement, both organizations will work together to enhance and create new trade opportunities in the diamond sector by establishing direct links between Canadian producers and Indian diamond manufacturers, thus eliminating third parties.

Satish Thakkar, president of ICCC and Bhushan Vora, chairman of Diamond Bourse Canada signed the agreement in the presence of Jason Kenney, Canada’s Minister for Citizenship and Immigration and Preeti Saran, Consul General of India, among other dignitaries on December 2, 2011, at an annual holiday dinner organized by the ICCC.

Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, Kenney said that Canada's relationship with India is one of the central foreign priorities for the federal government.
