Christie’s set a new record for a pair of emerald earrings sold at auction in Hong Kong on November 29, 2011. The event was a success, generating a total of $82.7 million dollars and selling 78% of lots offered.
Overall, the sale brought in $82.7 million, with 78 percent sold by lot and 79 percent sold by value.
In addition, a pair of D-Flawless round diamonds, weighting 35.77 and 35.61 carats, achieved $16.4 million, the highest ever price for colorless diamonds in Asia.
“Fine colored stones and natural pearls also fetched extremely strong prices, helping Christie’s realize $172 million, the highest ever annual result for any auction house in Hong Kong,” said Vickie Sek, director of the jewelry department at Christie’s Asia, in a statement.
