Gemfields Opens Trading Office in London for US and European Markets
To distribute Zambian emeralds...Gemfields has opened a trading office in London to distribute Zambian emeralds to the U.K., U.S. and European markets.
Research conducted by the company indicated that there is a need to supply additional cut and polished emeralds to these markets.
Gemfields stated: "Due to this historic lack of supply, retailers and designers have been reluctant to use Zambian emeralds in their designs and collections, as there is only limited access to fine goods and little knowledge or education on the difference between the different origins of supply."
The company explained that the London office will work to ensure a consistent supply of fine and commercial Zambian emeralds to these key markets.
